Kung Fu Panda

The will to survive, to prove oneself and to have access to great powers distiguishing one from all others in an already competitive and saturated world differs in degree amongst people, or say, animals. Kung Fu Panda is one such tale of a panda who's willingness to prove himself worthy of acclaim won him Shifu's belief.

Kung Fu Panda is an ordinary story of a panda who is the son of a noodle restaurant owner. His father has a lot of dreams for him in the noodle business, but his dreams are far beyond; he wants to become a Kung Fu warrior.

Destiny leads him to the palace where the Dragon Warrior is being chosen. His untimely fall in the center of the ceremony deems him the chosen one and the fulfilment of Oogway's prophecy. But no one believes he will be able to defeat Tai Lung, not even Po himself. With a unique and innovative, not to mention quite humorous style Shifu manages to teach Po the art of Kung Fu.

Despite being an animated movie, it may appeal to audiences of all ages. However, it did not live up to my expectations. It is one of those movies I would call a cute one-time watch. In my personal opinion it was too short and that the climax was quite anti-climactic. The movie was very fast-paced and did not do justice to the emotional development of characters. So even before one could feel sorry for a character, the scene has progressed into an action comedy. The phrase "something was missing" would be an appropriate analysis of the movie.

It is worth noting that the fight scenes were not only animated wih precision and detail but also the only part worth the movie ticket. Maybe the hype created before the release of the movie was so much that I over expected out of it. It is eminent to mention the ventriloquistic abilities of Jack Black (Po) and Dustin Hoffman (Shifu) for keeping the otherwise adrenaline/emotion/drama-lacking movie alive through the hour or so.

A very average effort and has the potential to offer a lot more than it actually does.
